Football: Groundhoppers give boost to Stowmarket area crowds

Cedars Park's reward for being one of few Suffolk & Ipswich League clubs to get their game on last weekend was a boosted crowd. More than 40 people braved the snowy weather to witness The Lions' 3-1 defeat by AFC Crowley Reserves.
But, while the majority of the crowd were from the Stow and Needham area, a number of the hardy band had travelled much further.
They were a group of 'Groundhoppers' who had come from across the South East having being made aware the club issued a match programme and were eager to add another tick to the list of grounds they had visited.
Groundhoppers travel the width and breadth of the country in search of their football fix, the only criteria for most is that it is a ground they have not previously visited and a programme is available.
All six of the Stowmarket area clubs have been visited by various members of the Groundhopping brotherhood over the years.
A few examples of their visits, including match details, ground details and pictures can be found on the internet.
