This week's Stowmarket edition of the Bury Free Press features pictures and a report from the new Stowmarket Golf Club captain James Lewis' drive-in.

Paper Talk: Stowmarket sport in the local media (Bury Free Press)

Holly Fifield takes the honours in today's edition of the Bury Free Press.
The Stowmarket High School student scored the winning goal to earn her team the Suffolk u19s County FA schools cup with a 1-0 win over Framlingham's Sir Thomas Mills. As well as a match report, there is also a picture of the winning team with manager Andy Kirk.
Stowmarket RUFC also get a page lead with a report on their possible title-clinching victory over West Norfolk.

Dean Gournay-Godfrey is pictured in action for Stowmarket Town during the 3-0 defeat at home to Thetford Town with a report taken from Stowmarket Sport.
Town u10 player Liam Swann gets a mention in Walsham-le-Willows’ report of their 6-1 win and in table tennis, there is a report from Thurston Vulcans on their 7-3 defeat against Stowmarket Jaguars.
There is a picture and details of Stowmarket Swimming Club’s “magnificent team effort” at the Sudbury Masters Valentine Open Sprints Meet as well as reports from Stowmarket Golf Club and Stowmarket RUFC’s win over Cantabrigian.

He looks ahead to tomorrow's trip to Gorleston and gives his views on why Town are having such a successful season – and it's not because of the goals they're scoring.

There are lots of Stowmarket's young stars featured in today’s edition of the Bury Free Press.
As well as pictures and a report from Stowmarket Swimming Club’s presentation evening on the sports pages, there is also a feature on the Mid Suffolk Sports Development wards in the news section, with words and pictures of many of the area’s young sporting talent.

The town’s bowling star Mark Royal is featured with updates of his World Championship progress and there is a report from Stowmarket Rugby Club’s 69-0 victory over Fakenham and news from Stowmarket Golf Club.

There are five items of interest to Stowmarket area readers in today’s edition of the Bury Free Press.
There is a report and pictures from Stowmarket Tennis Academy’s clash with Culford and details of Stowmarket Badminton Club’s December activities, albeit the club has been renamed Stowbridge!
Despite a lack of on-green action, Stowmarket Golf Club gets two mentions with news that long-serving Paul Lilly is retiring after 17 years in charge of the kitchen. There are also details of two holes-in-one struck on the Onehouse course during the year.
Engine builders AB Performance, of Buxhall, also get a mention in the motor sport column, with their Sabre RGB making some promising appearances during the year and offering plenty to look forward to in 2011

Stowmarket Town's record-breaking 13-0 win at Cornard gets a page lead and there is also a report on the midweek League Cup win over Histon Reserves as well as details of matches involving Haughley United, Salvation Army and Stowupland Falcons U3 Girls.

Winter weather again hit the local sports programme hard last week.
But that did not stop a fair smattering of Stowmarket area reports appearing in this week’s Bury Free Press sports pages.
Indoor sport went on as normal and there is a report and pictures of Mid Suffolk’s Joey Taylor-Balls League victory over high-flying Risbygate Bowls Club.
Stowmarket Badminton Club features with various items of news and there is a report on Stowupland Falcons U10s goalless draw at Moreton Hall.
Darts results include the Stow and District Friendly and Ingham Ladies Leagues.

Paper Talk: Stowmarket sport in the local media (Bury Free Press)

The recent wintry weather has curtailed sporting activity across the country.
It is no surprise, therefore, to find just five items of Stowmarket area news in today’s Bury Free Press.
There is a report on the Everyone Active Swim Scheme at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, where Sheila Airey, 80, and Charlotte Hailstone, 9, have won national achiever awards, while West Suffolk Swimming Club sent in details of their recent match at Stowmarket in the Suffolk Winter League.
Stowmarket Golf Club’s course was closed but there are still a few results in the round-up from them, and there are also scores from the Stowmarket Friendly Darts League.
Sports editor Derek Bish has written a preview of Stowmarket Town’s upcoming fixtures. Although tomorrow’s game with Halstead has since been called off, he also mentions Tuesday’s First Division Cup tie at Thetford.
