Bowls: Royal touch not enough to help Mid-Suffolk

Even the inclusion of world-ranked Stowmarket bowler Mark Royal in their ranks could not help Mid-Suffolk Indoor Bowls Club to a Denny Cup victory at City of Ely.
But they did face equally high-profile opposition with the home side boosted by the inclusion of reigning world champion Greg Harlow and fellow world-ranker Nicky Brett.
The match ended 95-74 to Ely, who progress to the quarter-finals.
Mid-Suffolk had beaten Ipswich, Sudbury, Falcon and Fakenham's Gallow club to reach the last 16 of the national competition.
