Football: Derby delight for Haughley in nine-goal thriller

Haughley United stretched their unbeaten run to seven games with a fifth consecutive victory in an incredible 6-3 success at derby rivals Old Newton United this afternoon.
Kwame Jones' 13th minute goal was all that separated the SIL Senior Division rivals at half-time but Nathan Smith and Craig Simpson struck to earn Haughley a 3-0 lead with only 17 minutes remaining.
Craig Lockwood pulled one back only for Smith to add his second within a minute to make it 4-1.
Two goals in three minutes from Aaron Shave and an own goal from Rob Firman made it 4-3 and set up a tense finale with Adam Rickwood hitting a Haughley post.
But the visitors held their nerve to score twice more in stoppage time through Aaron Robinson and Ashleigh Hawes.
