September 25, 2010 – The Cedars Park goal machine rolled on with an incredible 8-1 Suffolk County Primary Cup victory at Ufford Sports this afternoon.
A second-half blitz left the hosts, from two divisions higher, shell-shocked and earned The Lions a second round home tie against Needham Market-based AFC Crowley on October 23.
Ufford Sports had the first chance when Jason Wynne's first-minute shot hit a post but once Tommy Lankester's header looped into the net to put Cedars Park ahead after 15 minutes there was only going to be one winner.
The only surprise was that The Lions had to wait until the second half to click into scoring gear with Liam Edwards coming the closest to adding to the visitors' tally when his 37th-minute effort struck a post.
Tom Coe beat the offside trap to chip in the second goal four minutes after the break but a mistake by goalkeeper Craig Dootson allowed Wesley Brown to pull one back in the 56th minute.
The two-goal cushion was restored two minutes later when Luke Uttley beat the goalkeeper to a through ball to loft home the third.
A double one-two move between Uttley and Lankester allowed the lanky No 9 to add his second goal after 67 minutes.
Dootson pulled off a superb double stop to deny Wynne and Jed Mitchell to redeem himself for his earlier mistake.
Uttley was replaced by Nathan Muskett after 77 minutes and left-back Danny Moore was pushed forward. He made it 5-1 with his first touch in the new role before Lankester completed his hat-trick in the 89th minute.
There was still time for two more goals with Edwards scoring in stoppage time and Moore grabbing his second a minute later to complete the rout and take The Lions' goals tally to an incredible 26 from just four games this season.
Cedars Park: Dootson, Tostevin, Moore, Thompson, Jacobs, Kennedy, Edwards, Hall (Hardwick 79), Lankester, Uttley (Muskett 77), Coe.
Scorers: Lankester 3 (15, 67, 89); Coe (49); Uttley (58); Moore 2 (79, 90+2); Edwards (90+1).
