Stowmarket Town's stuttering form continued as high-flying Gorleston ran out comfortable 4-0 winners at Greens Meadow this evening.
Despite the scoreline, Stow started brightly with neat inter play across the middle culminating in a long-range effort from Wayne Proctor.
However, once Gorleston scored the first, a terrible defensive mix up allowing Chris Sanford to score into an empty net, Gorleston took control of the game.
Sandford netted his second when his free-kick dipped into the bottom corner of Kevin Bugg's goal while Ali McKenna's converted a perfectly delivered set piece to make it 3-0 before half-time.
Stowmarket had little to show for their efforts and just a long range lob from leading scorer Proctor was all they could manage.
The second half went the way of Gorleston as well with Sandford completing his hat-trick but not before Stowmarket had chances of their own from Ross Myhill and James Graham, but nothing they tried came off and it was Gorleston who were left celebrating, the win putting them top of the table.
Not even the introduction of new signing Kieran Joseph could change the scoreline, although he looked very productive and will bring some skills to the front line.
