Justin Bryant went close to pulling off a shock in the final of the Stowmarket Squash Club Championships at the Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre.The former Stowmarket club junior was up against ex-New Zealand international Steve Maitland and took a shock lead when he won the opening game 11-9.
He proved that was not a fluke with a 12-10 victory in the second but the furious pace he had started with began to take its toll and he lost the third set 11-4.
Maitland levelled matters with an 11-5 win in the fourth game and took the decider 11-5 to secure a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
