Golf: Chalmers tops standings despite changed greens

The hand-cut greens prove that summer is on its way at Stowmarket Golf Centre and scores reflected that in the March Stableford.
Professional Duncan Burl said: "By the looks of the scores, they caught a few out. Suddenly we are back in summer conditions and the ball is running again."
Undeterred by the change in conditions, Paul Chalmers won Division One with 20 points, reducing his handicap from eight to seven in the process.
Felicity Groom, in second, and Phil Puzey, third, repeated that reduction with 19 points.
Top of the pile in Division Two was Val Mayhew with a 22-point haul, knocking her handicap down two from 18. Mike Waspe and Simon Lapthorne also scored 22, reducing their handicaps from ten to eight.
Division Three was won by Dianne Richards with 21 points (handicap down from 20 to 18) ahead of Terry Davies (19, down from 21 to 20).
