World No 3 Mark Royal might not have returned from Potters Leisure Resort with a World title, but fellow members of the Stowmarket-based Mid Suffolk Indoor Bowls Club did come back from Hopton-on-Sea with some silverware.
A trio of bowlers from the club retained the under 17 trophy at a junior tournament staged during the World Indoor Championships, beating ten other clubs from across the East.
Leah Claireaux, Ben Parrish and Andrew Pulford beat a North Walsham team in the final 12-10 in front of a crowd of more than 600.
No doubt inspired by their famous club colleague, world number three Mark Royal who was watching from the stands in advance of his world indoor semi-final clash later in Presentations were made by Judy Potter, wife of the Potters Leisure Resort chairman, accompanied by Mark Hedges, whose Anglia Bowls team organised the tournament.
