Football: Cedars Park leave it late for cup shock

On the ball: Tom Allnutt lays off the ball for two-goal hero Danny Moore.

Cedars Park 3 Walsham-le-Willows A 2 (aet, 90 mins 1-1)
Cedars Park left it very late to find their scoring boots and pull off an Omnico Cup shock at The Den, this afternoon.
A Walsham-le-Willows A team, from two divisions higher, were the visitors but it was The Lions who dominated throughout.
But they failed to create any clear chances, being restricted to goalmouth scrambles and long-range efforts until the last minute.
Then a quick free-kick released Andrew Batley to fire in a 90th minute equaliser and force the match into extra-time.
The visitors had taken a 55th-minute lead when Paddy Lawrence capitalised on a mistake by Liam Edwards. They were then reduced to ten men when the scorer was sent off for two lots of dissent inside a matter of seconds.
Even with the numerical advantage, The Lions failed to carve out a clear opening and it looked as if their cup hopes were over until Batley strode forward.
Extra time saw Walsham regain the lead in bizarre fashion when left-back Luke Rowe launched a hopeful high ball into the area from the wing. But it fooled home keeper Haydn Backhouse and landed in the back of the net.
Undeterred, Cedars Park went straight back up the other end to equalise when Tom Allnutt and substitute Tommy Lankester combined to set-up Danny Moore to ram the ball into the roof of the net.
Two minute later Moore was in the right place again, sliding in the winner from Lankester ‘s cut-back.
In the closing stages, Edwards headed off his own line from a corner after The Lions had been reduced to ten men when substitute Aaron Hall was dismissed for an elbow.

Get stuck in! Tom Coe battles for the ball.
