Football: County cup hopes end for Haughley

Rob Fox rises highest to punch clear.

Haughley United 0 Whitton United 3
Haughley's Suffolk Senior Cup hopes were extinguished by the cup favourites this afternoon.
But the hosts can be proud of their performance with only a fluke first goal separating the sides until the hour mark when the Ridgeons League visitors grabbed two goals within five minutes to kill the game.
Whitton dominated much of the game but found Haughley difficult to break down and some fine passing from the home team ensured Whitton had to be at their best.
Gareth Ward pulled an early chance wide for Haughley before the visitors took the lead after 20 minutes in bizarre style.
Ronaldo Wright hit a half-hearted attempt goalwards from the edge of the area but the ball took a wicked bounce in front of goalkeeper Rob Fox and looped into the net.
Fox soon redeemed himself though with a fine save to keep out a viciously curling effort from Josh Brown.
It proved to be a gloomy day
for Haughley's cup hopes
Aaron Robinson and Dave Anderson went close for Haughley but they needed the head of Callum McLuckie to keep them in the game when he cleared off the line from a corner.
Whitton doubled their lead after 57 minutes when Robbie Knott headed in and five minutes later the game was effectively over when Darcy De'ath was allowed time to head in unopposed.
The Ipswich team closed ranks after that and were content to play out the remainder of the game with little incident.
