Paper Talk: Stowmarket sport in the local media (Bury Free Press)

There's plenty of Stowmarket sport news in today's Bury Free Press. As well as the Stowmarket Town football victories over Diss Town and Team Bury, reported earlier in the week on the Stowmarket Sport website, but with added manager's comments, there is a report from a Haverhill perspective on Stowmarket RUFC's 104-6 victory.
There are also reports from the opposition on Stowmarket Town u10s matches against Walsham-le-Willows.
Stow teenage swimmers Rob Lancaster and Will Blackaby are pictured after their fine performances in the English Schools National Inter Divisional Championships while, in motorsport, a report on racing at Silverstone includes details of how Stowmarket driver Alex Lennon performed in a team of MR2s.
Two members of Stowmarket Rookery Bowls Club received awards at the Suffolk County Women's presentation event. S Plummer was crowned champion of champions, while A Manser won the Under-25 section.
There is a report from the Suffolk Alliance's golf match at Stowmarket and former Stow Golf Club secretary and captain R West makes the news after edging to victory in the Past Captains' Plate.
The bulk of a page is devoted to coverage, including pictures, of the 28th Bury Area Chess League Congress at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds, during which Stowmarket's Vicky Allen won the ladies prize.
Finally, the results section includes details from the Greene King Stowmarket and District Friendly Darts League as well as tables from the Suffolk Super League.
  • Some sports reports are on the Bury Free Press website, or you can buy the paper for 70p at outlets throughout the area.
