Bowls: Royal claims World No 4 slot

A solid start to 2011 has seen Stowmarket bowler Mark Royal leap back up the World Bowls Tour rankings in the list released this afternoon.
The 2010 World No 3 had slipped out of the top 10 in the provisional rankings but a semi-final place in the Potters Holidays World Indoor Singles Championships in January and victory in the Welsh Grand Prix last week has seen him climb back up to fourth place.
Scotland's Paul Foster stays at No 1 after winning the World title in Norfolk and City of Ely's Greg Harlow remains second. A climb of seven places sees Scot Darren Burnett, beaten by Royal in the Welsh semi-finals, take the Stowmarket bowler's place at No 3.
