Golf: Davis, Fowler and Southgate lead the way

There have been plenty of strong performances in the February Medal at Stowmarket Golf Centre.
Club pro Duncan Burl said: "I would particularly like to mention Wendy Southgate and Angela Fowler for playing four under their handicap, a really good score.
"This week is a non competition week, we will be playing Winter League matches were we can.
"The group stages finish at the end of February and those with the most points will go through to the knockout."
Colin Davis was the Division One winner with a gross 36 to reduce his handicap by one to eight. Leading man was Roy Thompson, who went round in 33 and also dropped his handicap by one to four.
Angela Fowler topped Division Two with a gross 43, nett 25, reducing her handicap from 18 to 16 in the process. Tony Hughes was the leading man, going round in 38 and lowering his handicap by two to ten.
Leading lady was Pam Willshere, gross 41, nett 28, new handicap 12.
In Division Three, Wendy Southgate came out on top with a gross 47, nett 25, knocking two off her handicap to 20. Terry Davies was the leading lady with a gross 50, nett 29, and leading man was Les Nightengale, 54-24-30.
In all, eight golfers reduced their handicaps.
