Paper Talk: Stowmarket sport in the local media (Bury Free Press)

The recent wintry weather has curtailed sporting activity across the country.
It is no surprise, therefore, to find just five items of Stowmarket area news in today’s Bury Free Press.
There is a report on the Everyone Active Swim Scheme at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, where Sheila Airey, 80, and Charlotte Hailstone, 9, have won national achiever awards, while West Suffolk Swimming Club sent in details of their recent match at Stowmarket in the Suffolk Winter League.
Stowmarket Golf Club’s course was closed but there are still a few results in the round-up from them, and there are also scores from the Stowmarket Friendly Darts League.
Sports editor Derek Bish has written a preview of Stowmarket Town’s upcoming fixtures. Although tomorrow’s game with Halstead has since been called off, he also mentions Tuesday’s First Division Cup tie at Thetford.
  • Some sports reports are on the Bury Free Press website, or you can buy the paper for 70p at outlets throughout the area.
